EDUCATE A CHILD (EAC) is a US based tax-exempt not-for-prot education provider for remote rural children of primary school age and high school in developing countries. The goal of EAC is to provide primary education materials and resources to rural primary school pupils. The organization achieves its goal by sourcing nances to procure textbooks, establish reading rooms and equipping them with donated books and training communities to eectively supervise and manage the ducation programs of the schools. In order to fulll its promised deliverables, EAC will create strategic partners and co-investors for sourcing and managing resources respectively. The services of EAC include education life-line, education life-line components and education software. The strategic partners and co-investors of EAC will include US donors (individuals, not-for-prot-organizations, university and college students, communities and school libraries, responsible authorities of needy schools and the local school governing body (school development communities).
The genesis of Educate A Child is prompted by the perpetual neglect of the rural communities of developing countries. Populations of poor countries live on less than US$2 per day. As such educational materials such as textbooks, furniture and stationery is not available. For example, it is reported that pupils sat on planks, stones or on the oor in rural schools in Zimbabwe. In Zimbabwe, pupils lacked writing materials such that the pupils went outside the classroom to write on the ground. All these factors directly impact negatively the education of primary pupils in the rural areas of developing countries.
Educate A Child is committed to educating vulnerable primary school age pupils from grade 1 through 7 in rural primary schools located in the remote areas of developing countries by sourcing and providing education resources and materials. Educating primary school age pupils enables them to acquire higher education that makes them productive and contributing members of the society. Educate A Child is established on the strong assumptions that education is a basic inalienable human right for every child. Additionally, rural communities are interested in educating their children because they equate education to economic and social development success.
Educate A Child shares the aspirations of the rural communities and believes in education as a right to every child and as the only vehicle to economic and social development. As such we are partners with communities, co-investors as well as with social entrepreneurs interested in investing into the education of rural primary pupils. We make sure that the desires and goals of communities and co-investors are met with maximum eciency, eectiveness and sustainability. Educate A Child will be there for the future of primary pupils in Africa.
The primary goal of Educate A Child is to educate at risk rural children of primary school age by partnering with social entrepreneurs and co-investing with the respective communities in developing countries. The activities will increase the chances for at risk children to complete 7 years of primary education and enable primary school graduates achieve sustainable livelihoods for themselves and their families. Additionally, successful completion of primary school improves the chances for graduates to embark on secondary education leading to college and university education.
